Day 2 – OKEHAMPTON TO BATH

Day 2 takes a trip through Devon and up to Bath. 110 miles and 6800ft of climbing makes this a longer day with less climbing than Day 1.

The highlight of the day is cycling through Cheddar Gorge, but there are a few more steep climbs than on Day 1.

Bath gives us the one opportunity over the 9 days where we aren’t staying under canvas – we stay in picturesque Bath at the University Halls of Residence.

Update :

Well day two done.. The weather was beautiful all day… I woke up to this view..

The day started with a bit of an up and down run out of Okehampton then onto Tiverton followed by the first pit stop.

Then we had the wonders of Cothelstone to climb… Relatively steep and mid length… This is rab so this was a gentle push up the hill for me.. It was worth the vied from the top :

Then we continued onto the second pit stop… Discussing the wonders of cheddar gorge ahead….

Cheddar is a long, but not too steep climb but is just awesome!

Cheddar Gorge

After that it’s just a little up and down until we got to Bath – we are staying in the university halls of residence which means a real bed tonight!

So, we are two days into the journey. 216 odd miles of the 980 are behind us..

Tomorrow has a forecast of rain all day! I suppose we should expect rain at some point! Fortunately, I have full rain gear to use, but will need to be careful of hazards like potholes hidden beneath puddles!
